Using questioning for impact
Presenting content is central to teaching, as it
enables learners to acquire new knowledge and
skills. This course explores how educators can
optimise learning through interactive, engaging
and well-structured content delivery. Participants
will develop strategies to hold and focus attention,
sustain interest, check understanding and target
memory.
Great teaching is responsive and relies on
meaningful interaction, with questioning at
its core. This course explores the purpose and
impact of questioning, helping educators re昀椀ne
their approach to engage learners, assess
understanding and deepen learning.
Educators will build competencies in effective
teaching strategies, lesson planning, problem-solving,
critical thinking, and using digital technologies to
enhance learning and critical thinking.
Course outcome: Educators will develop strategies
to deliver interactive, engaging, well-structured
content that enhances attention, retention and
understanding.
Educators will learn how to improve question
quality, frequency and technique, ensuring
questions encourage critical thinking, problemsolving and metacognition. They will develop
competencies in using formative and summative
assessment effectively, providing regular feedback,
and fostering learner engagement.
Course outcome: Educators will gain practical
strategies to make questioning a powerful tool for
learner progress and deeper classroom discussions.
