Wellbeing for educators
Supporting student wellbeing
Improving wellbeing is a key issue for the teaching
profession. This course provides educators with
practical strategies to develop their strength and
昀氀exibility and help their schools avert crises in
recruitment, retention and mental health. Responses
to these complex issues need to be grounded in
reality and draw from real-life examples, coupled
with re昀氀ective tasks to help educators make progress
and 昀椀nd solutions tailored to them.
This practical course introduces educators to
key concepts of academic wellbeing and equips
them with tools to support learners effectively.
Through theory, case studies and hands-on
activities, educators will explore how to identify
student wellbeing needs, create positive classroom
environments, build learner self-ef昀椀cacy, and
manage behaviour through a wellbeing lens.
This course equips educators with strategies to
manage workload, build resilience, and prioritise
wellbeing through real-life case studies, practical
activities, and re昀氀ective tasks tailored to sustainable
professional practice.
Course outcome: Educators will bene昀椀t from
strategies to manage workload, build resilience and
prioritise their wellbeing.
This course highlights the importance of ful昀椀lling
students’ basic psychological needs - autonomy,
competence and relatedness - and offers strategies
for encouraging re昀氀ective practice. Participants in
the course will also learn how to foster motivation,
especially in learners affected by trauma, by
exploring alternative approaches to rewards and
behaviour management.
Course outcome: Educators will increase their
con昀椀dence in embedding wellbeing practices into
everyday teaching to improve learner engagement,
emotional security and academic resilience.
