Why schools love Reading Planet...
It’s flexible and can be used for
whole-class, group and independent
reading in school or at home
We use the books for Guided Reading three
times a week and for individual reading to an adult
twice a week. We do half an hour phonics every day
and the books do link in well. In terms of a reading
scheme, it’s brilliant – it really works. It has good texts,
lots of variety of texts and good support activities.
Wilton CE Primary School
Unlike other schemes, our books
are created for young readers
of today
In our catchment area, children don’t
have many outside experiences, so the stories
strike the right balance of being relevant and
relatable, but humorous and engaging too. We
have found that the books are engaging for the
children and link to their interests – the children
relate to the characters.
Griffin Park Primary School
It has proved to raise reading
attainment
We had a child with EAL join in October
with a low PIRA standardised score of 75,
whose score is now 98 after only nine months.
Reading Planet has definitely helped her to
build up her vocabulary and encouraged her
engagement.
