A Shinto story
This story is based on the old Japanese Shinto
tale of Amaterasu Oomikami, in which the
Sun Goddess Amaterasu shuts herself in a
cave after her brother’s bad behaviour, making
the world dark. She’s eventually
ually enticed out by
her friend dancing in front of the cave.

ume is a very humanlik
humanlike Kami with a lot of imperfections,
who tries to help humans, along with other Kami who
are also very humanlike. It is not their authority, but their
intention to help humans that moves Mai, Sachiko and
Isamu to collaborate with them to save the world. In doing
so, it teaches them that enjoying the nature of things and
finding harmony with your circumstances is important.
